Technology and AI Due Diligence of a Wealth Platform

Middle East investment group

A Middle East investment group was evaluating an AI-driven wealth management platform for acquisition and required diligence covering the technology stack, the data architecture, the AI models and the team behind them.

Scope of work

  • Architecture reviewed end to end across front end, back end, APIs and modular design, with scalability, cloud infrastructure, AI compute requirements and cost structure assessed, and user workflows evaluated across onboarding, KYC, portfolio dashboards and deal syndication.

  • Software and data assessed, covering codebase quality, maintainability and performance, CI/CD pipelines, version control and container orchestration, alongside data flows, storage practices, encryption standards and governance controls.

  • AI models reviewed on the evidence rather than the vendor's description:

    • Model architecture, feature engineering pipelines and training data lineage
    • Back-testing results, out-of-sample performance metrics and stress testing logs
    • Explainability, fairness, monitoring processes and drift detection
  • Security and compliance assessed, covering cybersecurity controls, vulnerability management and GDPR compliance across markets.

  • Team evaluated on technical and AI capability, organisational structure and skill gaps.

Outcome and value

  • A decision-ready technology and AI risk assessment delivered to the investment committee.
  • Scalability, cost and AI governance opportunities identified.
  • Technical, data and model risk gaps presented with remediation recommendations.
  • Model performance tested against evidence rather than representation.
