Credit Automation for a Corporate Bank

GCC corporate bank

The bank engaged ALP to automate corporate credit proposal preparation and renewal decisioning. The process was mapped first: a document-heavy chain in which the same information is compiled more than once before a decision is reached.

Scope of work

  • Baseline diagnostic conducted end to end, tracing where analyst time is actually spent and ranking automation opportunities against that rather than against where automation is easiest.

  • Data foundation built first, defining an always-on credit monitoring layer as the prerequisite for everything above it: a single governed borrower view assembled automatically from both bank systems and external sources.

  • Agentic credit workflow designed around orchestrated agents working from one governed data set:

    • The credit proposal and the board note drafted from the same source
    • Figures taken from source data and fixed formulas
    • The narrative written by the model
  • Human gate retained as a mandatory step in the workflow, with a full audit trail maintained across each run, so the credit officer holds final authority on every decision.

  • Phased rollout defined through a target operating model embedding AI across the full credit lifecycle in five phases, with human due diligence retained at every regulated decision point and guardrails defined for each phase before it goes live.

Outcome and value

  • Proposals and board notes drafted from governed data rather than compiled by hand.
  • Analyst time redirected from assembly toward credit judgement.
  • A full audit trail on every run, with figures traceable to source.
  • A phased path to automation that keeps human authority at each regulated decision point.
